Edythe Edee Ruth Esquivel portrait deceased 20210720Edythe (Edee) Ruth EsquivelEdythe (Edee) Ruth Esquivel, 87, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on July 20, 2021. Edythe was born on April 4, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edith Josephine Barker; her father was Albert Marzullo.

Her original birthname was Lenore Beatrice Barker. Edythe was adopted as a two-months-old by Leonda and Edwin Gray, then renamed after her birth mother.

She was a longtime resident of the McKinley Park neighborhood of Chicago, living there for more than 35 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Juan Esquivel; son Gary Zichterman (Sharon); son Toby Zichterman; granddaughter Chantene Zichterman-Delgado (Christopher); grandson Gunnar Zichterman; step-grandchildren Fred Reichardt (TC); Robert Reichardt; Steven Fraser; great-grandchildren Zachary, Jacob and Philomena; and step-great-grandchildren Maya, Maria, Jazmyn, Michael, Nora, Freddy, Julia, Fritz, Angelo and Emma; as well as half-sister Mary Ann Johnson, half-brother Jim Marzullo and friends.

Edythe was preceded in death by friends; her former husband, Robert Zichterman; her half-brother, Joseph Marzullo;  her half-brother, James Redmann; her mother, Edith; her adopted mother, Leonda; her father, Albert; and her adopted father, Edwin.

Memorial Service

A memorial service takes place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary church, 4517 S. Ashland Ave., Chicago.
